God’s commandment’s provide us with principles by which we should act, overriding our desires. We have an obligation to not fulfill our own wants or needs, if to do so violates the principles that God has given us.

The real test for any leader that God chooses to lead his people is whether or not the leader remembers that the real leader is God; the actual job of any Christian leader is simply to transmit the Word of God to the people.

The unsaved are lost, not because of their sin, as we are all sinners, lost or saved, but because of their arrogance, in that they refuse to recognize that they are not good enough to merit God’s Kingdom. Heaven is not a place for good people, but only for the humble people, because only the humble can be saved.

Jesus Christ is the stone that the builders rejected, who, by not being jealous of His prerogative as the Son of God, but humbly sacrificing Himself on Calvary’s Cross rather than saying “Mine”, has become the chief cornerstone of the worship of God. Through the humility of Jesus Christ, the jealousy of the Jewish religious leadership has been exposed and finally rejected. Through the humility of Jesus Christ, the works of the devil are finally defeated, and the power of God is made manifest in the earth.

Regardless of how good any of us may think that we are, none of us are sinless, and so none of us are worthy of heaven.

Pride is a terrible attribute for us to have. Pride causes us to ignore God, and it keeps people from acknowledging that they are sinners that need to be saved.

Jesus is telling us that we are participants in something that is bigger than ourselves, and as long our thinking revolves around ourselves, we cannot develop the personal characteristics required for maturity.

Disobedience – our arrogant thinking that we know better than the one that has the position of authority over us, and so rather than discussing the situation with them and getting their agreement to our proposed action, we can just ignore their instructions and do that which we want.
